The apartment is located in an award-winning riverside development and extends over three storeys. The client was taken by the riverside views but the property was in need of modernisation and the layout required a redesign to suit the clients’ needs.
Heckmann Design worked closely with the Client to achieve the tight budget requirements, without compromising on design or quality. Whilst some areas were subject to layout changes and improvements, including the design and installation of new built-in joinery and a new bathroom and dressing room, other areas required light refurbishment works.
Despite the tight project timescale of under five months from the initial design sketches to completion and handover, this apartment has undergone an impressive transformation.
In 2019, Heckmann Design Ltd were invited back by the original client to redesign an existing bathroom, design a new nursery and create new improved storage in the apartment to areas not included within the original scope of works. Working within tight deadlines was once again a challenge, however with the support of an excellent team of joiners and specialist trades Heckmann Design were able to deliver the design as envisioned.
By removing the existing suspended ceiling, and by allowing the new plasterboard to follow the natural slope of the structural roof members, the re-designed bathroom now benefits from a much-improved ceiling height which significantly enhances the quality of the space. To connect the room to the architectural language of the house, a curve in the ceiling was introduced, a feature that can be found in several rooms within the apartment.
The nursery was inspired by the theme of stars and sky and follows the principles of lightness and calm to create a serene space which is still full of character and elegance. The artwork painted on the Regency collection by Dragons of Walton Street was inspired by our children’s book and interpreted masterfully by their artists. The design was based on our adapted sketches and botanical selection.
